Great race today by mare, really happy that he finally skied like he have been doing in almost every training since august. Good work by the whole “GS-team”! (my Internet was sucking pretty bad yesterday and it didn’t want to publish my post)
Me, myself and I had a good run with one mistake. Shitty but that’s skiing. Better to stop doing them. Im in München right now, flying to Norway tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is good in Kvitfjell so we can have a normal speedweek. We have a few days of training planned in Hafjell, need to get a few good days of super-g to find the A-game for Kvitfjell.
Sick. What a race. Insane. So close but so far away. Have no idea what happened in the slalom. Looked like it worked out pretty good.. Just gonna jump in the car and pick up my girl from munich.:)
A big thanks to all you people who have put energy to congratulate me. Totally insane. Im sorry that I cant respond to all of you.
Crazy race today. Had a great run in really tough conditions. Really happy with my performance. It still feels quite weird.. Thanks for all the nice words, it means a lot!
Just arrived to Schladming. Had 3 days of training in Tarvisio, Italy. Not perfect but better than we have had in a long time. This year we have been really unlucky with the weather and snow-conditions. If there is a training planned on the next day it always starts dumping snow in the evening. Luckily today it actually was pretty good, we got something out of the training. Last day of preparations tomorrow, 2 runs of freeski/training and then a lot of sleep to load the batteries. It is gonna be a loooong week.
Had a short interview at the finish area and it looks pretty sweet in my eyes. Lets hope for some better weather, as you can see it is pouring rain right now..
After a crazy week in Kitz the main feeling is relieved. You wake up in the morning knowing that you don’t have to ski that hill today and that feels good. I like the hill but it is such a tough slope so you cant really let it out of your mind on the whole week. When you sleep, you dream about it, when you eat you think about it and when your on taking a shit you feel like your at the start gate getting ready. It is intense. Im measuring some kind of heartrates when i sleep to follow how I recover from the trainings. On the night after the DH race, when you should be most tired, my body recovered way better than any other day and I also slept way better.
Kitz is a tought slope, its steep, bumpy, icey and some parts also pretty dark. But why is it the toughest race of the year? The answer is pretty simple, you make one mistake and your out. Not normal kind of out, missing a gate and hitting the poles against the fence in disappointment. Most likely you are out in the nets, just hoping that everything is good. Still it feels bad to know that you have to wait one more year to get a new try to tame the streif.
Here is a good example from this years race, luckily Fill is OK and didn’t get hurt.
Now its time to look ahead, world champs is just around the corner. Schladming is ready for us. Now its time to find your A-game for real. There will be heros made in these races. Resting at home for a few days and then flying back to middle Europe.

Lauberhorn rennen is one of the most famous Downhill races in the world. 33 000 people watching the race live and cheering like maniacs when the swiss guys attack the track. As my Wengen weekend is over, here is some thoughts about it.
Had a good weekend in overall with some really good turns and some bad turns. Had a great run in the supercombi downhill, had some tiny problems in the first part but after that it was actually “top shit” skiing. The last turn didn’t maybe go that well but otherwise I was pretty happy with my skiing.
Slalom was tough. Felt ok and tried to attack but it was tough. I was still pretty happy with the overall result. 11th is not so bad.
The downhill was a really tough one. Clouds came in after the top group and the light was really bad for guys in the back. It is really hard to ski when you don’t see the surface, you become a bit passive and then its way heavier than normally. You cant argue with the weather gods so it is better to just take it as it is and hope that they will one day be on your side too. Skiing was OK and after all im pretty happy with the result considering everything.
Next up Kitzbühel.
( thank you hans for letting me use your video )

Had a really good training-block. The conditions were really tough but ever day we got the best out of it. Got two days of super-g and one really hard day of slalom.
When you ski slalom once or twice a month your body really don’t like it so much. Back, knees, and your head feels like they have been run over by a truck, but it is also so much fun.. It still feels good to get back on those long one’s now.
Leaving for Wengen tomorrow morning. Hopefully the weather stays OK and we get some fare conditions to race on.

Back in Austria for some training, already did 2 days of GS in Innerkrems with the our tech guys and now back with the “team” in Haus. Tried to ski Super-g today but the weather is really weird and warm right now so ended up skiing a few runs of GS. At least we are doing anything
Skiing is OK, not good but still OK. Tomorrow we will get back on the long skis. Still one week before the first training-run in Wengen, might try the super-short-and-carving slalom skis one day. That might be funny so if you are in the area, come and check it out! haha
Dark, bumpy and tough, the best words to describe the race in Bormio. It was my first time here and in the end I really liked it. You need to be on the top of your game when you are the most tired. A true downhill course.
Had 2 good trainings and felt pretty good about my skiing. Went for it and it went fine. Finished 14 and took some really important WC-points. Carrier best in downhill my first Bormio ever is not to bad.
Now back home for some dryland and some time with my girl. AND THANK YOU FOR THE NICE WORDS! IT REALLY MEANS ALOT!
